My name is Blackie and that was always my name so when I needed to be rescued they kept the name I know.  I had an owner and spent my life with them until my owner went to heaven one day and the people that cleaned out our house just turned me loose.  But because I was so loyal and wasn't sure what was happening that I just stayed on my porch waiting and hoping my owner would come home but they never did.  I ended up in the shelter and had little chance of getting out because of the Black dog stigma and because I am a large breed, Black male senior dog that I was overlooked day after day.  

Well Allie's Haven came in and rescued me.  And just like that I was back in a home.  A foster home is a great place to be for a dog like me.  Sadly, I have heartworms but I am getting treated for that now.  I have some arthritis but that really doesn't slow me down.  I also have some cloudy old dog eyes so may have some limited vision.  I have had years of infected ears so I also have some hearing loss but otherwise I'm in great health for a guy my age.  My fur is soft and growing back,  I am potty trained and crate trained but don't need to be crated.  I am good with other dogs but cats are something I enjoy chasing so probably not a good idea to be in a home with those little furry critters.  I know some basic commands, I love food and treats. If you want a big ol' guy to hang out with then give me shot and I will show you just how loyal I am.
