BIG hello from me, Bear, although my foster family calls me “Big Bear” and “The Moose”.  I am just a big(90 pound),goofy, lovable, snuggly, male, 6-7 year old yellow lab, who loves everything and everyone.  My story is kind of sad, but I am the happiest dog in the world!

A young man in South Texas saw me in the backyard of a house one day and reached out to Allie’s for help. I was neglected my entire life.  I was in a back, back yard far away from my house.  I have had skin allergies most of my life, mange, heart worms, and such a bad eye infection that I was blind when I arrived at my foster family’s house.  The heart worms have been treated, I am neutered, and my skin is much, much better.  The vet said that my beautiful yellow fur may never grow back in some places.  I am really worried that people will not look past my scarred exterior and see what an amazing dog I am.  My foster family tells me my scarring just gives me character. I have a heart of gold and just want to be with you…..all the time, every step you take.  My eyes have cleared up, my vision has returned, and I feel like a toddler discovering the world for the first time.  Everything is new and fun!  I live with two other dogs and even like cats. I am big and strong, but I have been working on my manners and walking on a leash. I am housetrained, smart and am learning very quickly.  When treats are involved, I learn extra fast!  I hate being contained, so no crates for me, but I can be completely trusted in the house. I have the perfect energy.  I can hang out with you in the house, walk with you, take a jog with you, be in the yard with you, swim with you, settle down quickly for a nap, or just settle down nicely in the house.  If you love a typical lab, look no further! Please look past the skin I am in and give me a chance to show you what an amazing dog I am!
